Overview
What will I study during this IWFM Level 5 Diploma course?
The purpose of this course is to equip you with the knowledge, skills and competence to use as a facilities manager in a range off complex FM environments. During this course you will learn to complete critical evaluation of operational and strategic facilities management. You will learn how to develop and apply effective strategies for managing people in facilities management. You will develop understanding of the importance of risk management in facilities management as well as an understanding of financial management in facilities management.

Organisational and Facilities Management Strategy
The module enables you to analyse, implement, review and update the facilities management strategy based on an understanding of its relationship with organisational strategies and effectively communicate the facilities management strategy to a wide audience. Understanding approaches to developing a facilities management strategy, review, implementation and communication to various stakeholders are core elements of this module.
This module enables you to undertake an analytical overview of the scope and context of facilities management, including the impact of change, development and innovation on facilities management practices and to understand how the scope and extent of the facilities management industry has changed.

Managing People in FM
This module enables you to review, develop and implement human resource management strategies from recruitment through to exit, in compliance with employment legislation. Managing and monitoring staff performance in a facilities management context together with recruiting, retention and exiting staff are all covered during this module.

Property, Fabric & Building Service Maintenance
This unit enables learners to develop knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of property and fabric management in a range of different scenarios and how to plan and manage building services for a number of loacations.

Managing Procurement and Contracts in FM
This module enables you to apply the principles of procurement, contracts and contract management in various facilities management scenarios and evaluate decisions made. It enables you to use and manage different types of contracts, develop specifications and terms and conditions for the procurement of goods and services and manage costs.

Risk Management in FM
This unit enables learners to develop knowledge and understanding of the principles, techniques and methodologies of risk management in a range of scenarios and the Facilities Manager’s role in business continuity planning and disaster recovery.

Development and Trends in FM
This module enables you to undertake an analytical overview of the scope and context of facilities management, including the impact of change, development and innovation on facilities management practices and to understand how the scope and extent of the facilities management industry has changed.

Financial Management in FM
This module enables a you to apply the principles of financial management and financial policies to facilities management.
Key responsibility of FMs working at a senior level include effectively managing budgets and cash flow, preparing financial cases and understanding sound financial policies.

Managing Health & Safety in Own Area of FM
This unit enables learners to develop and enhance knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace and the Facilities Manager’s role and responsibilities in monitoring and reviewing safety systems.

Those holding a IWFM Level 4 Certificate or Diploma are exempt from one of the following:

Holders of an IWFM level 5 diploma can gain advanced entry into year 3 of our BSc (Hons) Facilities & Workplace Management degree. This means after one year of further study you can hold a level 8 degree in facilities management.
