Margaret Drennan successfully graduated from Portobello Institute’s Advanced Certificate in Early Learning & Care – QQI Level 6 Major Award and was awarded Student of the Year by the Early Years faculty at her graduation ceremony.

“I loved the course, it was very supportive with so much help from students and tutors. I am really proud of myself. I am nearly 50 years old so going back into education is a big deal. A total change of career for me so I am thrilled,” she said.
With her level 6 course now secure, Deirdre looks towards the future with ambitious plans, aspiring to further her education and advance her career. Her qualification allows for smooth progression straight into Portobello Institute’s BA (Hons) Early Childhood Care and Education degree.
This three-year degree can opens doors for Margaret into management and other roles in the early years sector working with children or with government bodies.
Graduation day was a milestone for Margaret, a celebration of her achievements shared with her husband. Her words reflect the emotional and personal significance of this career shift.
“I am hoping to go on to my level 8 in the future, and hopefully then into a management position,” she said.
