Special Needs Assisting
Position: SNA tutor – Galway Region
“ If you are brave enough to start you are strong enough to finish”
I have been tutoring now for over 8 years, I just love meeting all the new faces and getting to know each student. I work as a SNA in a mainstream primary school every day. I also work with adults with learning disabilities in a residential setting. This increases my overall experience working alongside both adults and children with additional needs. I love each one of my jobs and my work ‘on the ground’ really helps my teaching motivation.
Your teaching philosophy
Why do I tutor? Well firstly I just love meeting new people. All students are nervous in some way starting a course, some may not have been in a classroom for ten or twenty years. In my classroom we are all equal, understanding of each other with some humour added in along the way.
I will be honest; I did struggle when the lockdown began especially teaching my course online but we adapted well and I really enjoyed this new challenge!
- BSc (Hons) (NUIG)
- Masters in Medical Science (QUB)
- Masters in Operations and Quality Management (NUIG)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Education (NUIG)
My philosophy is all these qualifications only tells us that I like college. The things that are most important for working with children/adults with additional needs are your qualities and skills.
