About Colette

My greatest commitment in life is teaching. My career started in Cope Foundation in Cork working with adults with challenging behaviour, although on occasion it may have been demanding it was also incredibly inspiring and set the foundation for further development in my professional career. I then began the journey which would see me obtain my BA degree in humanitarians in Montessori Education and later my postgraduate certificate in challenging behaviours, including special education, general learning disabilities, specific learning Disabilities, Dyslexia and ASD. In 2003 I opened my own propose built Montessori School, and experienced great success with the children and families that I worked with. I am a home tutor with the department of education and provide tuition to children with additional needs. This is the foundation of my commitment to helping my students, whatever their abilities might be.

Colette’s Teaching Philosophy

My approach to teaching would be to give my students practical advice and tips, to relate as much as possible back into the student’s environment to make it relatable and understanding.

My teaching philosophy is aimed at helping each student reach their full potential. The methods I use are based on three key factors; specialized training that is specific to the goal of the programme, creating an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and can actively contribute to the group and the use of real life examples and experiences, which gives students a true understanding of the work that’s involved in caring for and educating all children. When these elements are in place, students are able to discover their own talents, gain self-confidence and achieve their educational goals under my guidance and support.
