Course Overview
Our BSc (Hons) in Health Care and Management Studies qualifies you to become a skilled professional dedicated to improving and supporting health. This degree offers direct pathways to graduate medicine and pre-registration master’s programmes in various healthcare disciplines.

This programme is designed to meet the entry requirements for major postgraduate healthcare qualifications, such as nursing, medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and nutrition and dietetics.

In-person on weekdays delivery offers you the opportunity to study with a more traditional schedule with lectures delivered on-site in Portobello during weekdays.
Those lectures are generally scheduled between Tuesday and Thursday. Monday’s lectures are delivered online.
The course timetable is condensed to be delivered with onsite classes 2-3 days per week over 2 semesters
Examinations are held at the end of each semester.
Course content is delivered online with supported workshops held on 5 Saturdays over the course of the programme, allowing you to study while working full-time.
Course material is structured on a weekly basis and available to download from our eLearning platform as you progress through the course.
One-to-one tutor support combined with online course content delivery makes this course accessible to you around your busy work life and family commitments.
Work Placement
The programme includes essential placement modules.
To accommodate students, including those already employed or in remote locations, we’ve developed a flexible supervision model for placements.
Examples of placement settings include:
- Public or private hospitals
- Primary care and community settings
- GP practices
- Nursing homes
- Hospices
Placement modules will be undertaken in Years 2 and 3, carrying 40 CATS credits (20 ECTS). Assessment includes an e-Portfolio in Years 2 and 3, comprising a Learning Journal and stage-specific tasks outlined in module descriptions.
