Turn your passion for fashion into a successful lifelong career with a recognised award that is specific to the business of fashion.
The programmes offered in Portobello Institute’s Business of Fashion department are creative, unique and individual and have been specifically designed to prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed for your chosen career in the fashion industry.
Our courses prepare graduates to undertake a variety of roles within the fashion industry by introducing subjects from the worlds of fashion, business and retailing which are customised to the needs of the fashion industry.
We believe that real-life learning opportunities, which allow you to learn outside of the classroom, are invaluable in preparing you for employment.
Each year we organise a number of guest lectures who provide a great insight into their role in the industry. We also arrange a number of field trips to fashion events in Ireland and overseas which enhance your opportunity to gain further relevant and practical experience.
‘I get such a buzz when I see the expression of wonderment and delight on the students faces when we arrive at a London or Milan fashion Trade Show. Even though I bring the students every year it never gets old.’ – Anne Marie Mc Auley, Fashion Department Programme Manager
We are passionate about helping you achieve your personal best and offer you one to one support throughout your learning journey. Our programme management and tutoring team within the Business of Fashion department have been carefully selected to provide you with the benefit of their industry knowledge and experience.
Our team is dedicated to helping you achieve your career goals and have been successfully preparing our business of fashion students towards interviews and employment during the last number of years.
“I think the great thing about Portobello Institute is that when you first start and they tell you that you’ll get internships and you can get jobs after the course, you actually do. There are so many colleges that say that and then the course ends and you have no idea where to even begin. They genuinely care about the students and they genuinely want to see them succeed afterwards.” – Business of Fashion past student, Rebecca Fox, who now works as an Administrative Buying Assistant at Pamela Scott.
Many of the leading fashion buying and merchandising departments participate and recruit directly from Portobello as a result of their involvement on our work placement and internship programmes. These practical placement elements support you to develop your skills and confidence and are key to gaining employment in the fashion industry.
