When Brazil native Jessica Demori De Almeida first arrived in Ireland, it wasn’t her intention to begin her journey to becoming a PE teacher.

Though her favourite subject in school, high costs in her home country dissuaded her from pursuing PE teaching as a career in Brazil.

But when she came to Dublin, initially on an English exchange, she found out via friends that there were much more accessible routes to PE teaching.

One of those routes, was Portobello Institute.

“A friend of mine told me about it, he was already a PE teacher with a Masters degree from Brazil. “Between all courses in Dublin, Portobello was the most affordable and handy to do, as I used to live in city centre.”

At Portobello, accessibility is central to everything we try to do and our easy payment plans and central location are two key aspects of that.

After an interview with our own Dr. Susan Giblin, Jessica was able to go on and complete the BA (Hons) in Physical Education citing our focused student support as a massive help during her time in Portobello.

Most importantly, Portobello was able to open the door for her next chapter.

“I’m intending to go for a master degree in Belgium so I will be able to teach worldwide.

“I love travelling and PE so I could put everything together working as a teacher or a sports coach”, she said.
