Lauren – Gaining Confidence During Early Years Degree After Long Break From Studying

Early Years Graduate

Early Years

Lauren was out of college for seven years and questioned her ability and confidence to do a blended learning Early Years degree at Portobello.

However, she is through the other side of her Level 7 early years degree now and has realised her own abilities.

“I have so much more confidence now in this field and it has taught me that I am well able to do anything I put my mind to.”

Returning to college can be a challenge for most people. Students often underestimate their ability and question their confidence as they make the decision to undertake a new course of study.

It had been seven years since Lauren did any course and she was working as a childminder.

The blended learning Level 7 degree in Early Childhood Studies was the programme that was most suitable for Lauren, and understandably, she approached it with more than a little trepidation.

“I was very nervous starting this course as it had been years since I was in college or near a laptop so the online studying was very daunting prior to starting the course.”

“However, the structure of the course online was very easy and stress-free. I personally found the tutorials brilliant and I felt very confident about the assessments I had been asked to complete when I came out of them. I would highly recommend anyone doing the course to attend them. With the right teachers and the right application, I found the course very manageable,” she said.

Lauren has grown in terms of professional competence and confidence.

“I have so much more confidence now in this field and it has taught me that I am well able to do anything I put my mind to.”

So much so that Lauren is now planning to do a master’s degree and we wish her every success in this endeavour.
