Caoimhe Kenny – Business of Fashion Graduate Celebrates New Role as Beauty Buying and Merchandising Assistant at Brown Thomas Arnotts

Fashion Buying and Merchandising and Fashion Management

Business of Fashion

Portobello Institute’s Business of Fashion graduates succeed in the careers they want including fashion buying and merchandising, visual display, fashion management and becoming entrepreneurs with their own companies.

Graduate of our Fashion Buying and Merchandising and Fashion Management courses, Caoimhe Kenny, first carved out an exciting role at the sustainable fashion company Junk Kouture upon graduation.

“Even if you are doing fashion buying and merchandising there are so many other possibilities of the type of work you can do in fashion. I found something that is related to fashion and business.

“The second year was a lot more business-focused that put things into perspective for me that it is fashion I want to do but at the same time everything is business, everything revolves around business and sales,” she said.

Over two years later, in 2024, her career is going from strength to strength as she celebrates her new role as Beauty Buying and Merchandising Assistant at Brown Thomas at Arnotts.

Caoimhe is still putting the valuable knowledge and skills she learned while studying at Portobello to use in her career every day.

“Embarking on my journey of fashion buying and merchandising at Portobello Institute was a transformative experience.

“It empowered me with the profound knowledge necessary to excel as a buyer, fortified my confidence in my skills, and meticulously prepared me for the dynamic challenges of launching a successful career in the vibrant realm of the buying industry,” she said.

Caoimhe is excited about all the opportunities her new role brings, and she is putting her business of fashion skills, buying, merchandising and merging that with all of the confidence and knowledge she has gained from her previous role.

We love to see our graduates thriving in their careers, huge well done to Caoimhe and we wish her the best of luck in her new role with the Brown Thomas Arnotts team in Dublin.
